High Frequency Induction welding is the common process for steel tube manufacturing. Ferrite rod core plays a very crucial part in increasing the efficiency of welding process. Major requirement of ferrite cores are low power loss and close control of dimensions.

Impeder rods are manufactured using soft ferrites by extrusion and sintering process. Magnetic Product Division's impeder rods are manufactured under controlled processes to achieve the tight dimensional control and highest magnetic properties, which would ensure the best performance of steel tube welding.The magnetic flux produced by the work coil is concentrated in the vicinity of the pipe junction by the impeder core. Consequently, the welding process is much more efficient when an impeder core is used.The stability and effectiveness of the welding process are significantly impacted by the properties and longevity of the impeder core.



THE PROCESS


In induction welding, the high frequency magnetic field from the coil induces an alternating current on the outer side of the open seam tube. The current can take either of two parallel return paths in the vee (ADC) or around the inside surface (ABC). Ferrite impeder core reduces the current flowing around the inside surface and thus enhances the “useful” vee current (ADC), which helps heating.
